Friday – Questioning Love We will end this week and this Advent series with some questions to consider. Please take some time to reflect and consider these questions. Don’t just read through the questions and rush to the day’s next activity. Give time for the Spirit to speak to you. I’d also encourage you to use these questions for discussion with others. Let’s consider some questions on love: Two “proofs” of Christ’s love for us was His sending and sacrifice. What are some other ways that Christ has shown His love for you? How have you experienced God’s love through the actions of others? WhatRead More →

Thursday – Love in Action Over the last few days we’ve considered some powerful truths about love. On Monday, we were reminded that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ and that through Christ’s love we have victory in the midst of this world’s struggles, troubles and suffering. On Tuesday, we learned that the only way to truly experience love in all its fullness is to experience God Himself. Tuesday – What’s Love Got to Do with It I’ll begin by apologizing for using an old song title made popular by Tina Turner. “What’s Love Got to Do with It” became a number-one hit in the U.S. in 1984 and is still well-known today. The song’s title raises a good question. The main chorus dives deeper into the writer’s experience of love: What’s love got to do, got to do with it What’s love but a second hand emotion What’s love got to do, got to do with it Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken There are many in thisRead More →

Monday – The Victory of Love It was Christmas day and I was headed home. If all went according to plan I’d arrive right in time for a delicious Christmas lunch with my family. I was eager to see my family since I had been living in Illinois and rarely got to travel out to see them. But all my high expectations came to a crashing halt. As I waited in Detroit airport for my transfer flight, we were given a delay. I was a little down but I tried to console myself with the fact that all I’d miss was the Christmas lunch. ButRead More →
