Pondering Hope

Friday: Pondering HOPE

Good morning! I am ending this week of focus on HOPE with a few application questions for you. Sound like homework? No worries! No deadlines! No grades! These questions are for you and only you (unless you want to share them with each other or alternatively, I would love to hear some of the ways you answer your questions!). The most important question first:

1. I mentioned “I am ending this week of focus on HOPE” but that makes no sense?! There is never a day that goes by that HOPE isn’t part of what we need to think about, consider, and focus on. How is this true in your life?
2. Consider Isaiah, Matthew, and Paul in this week’s reflection on biblical representations of HOPE. Did this help you look at HOPE more broadly and more biblically? If so, how? If not, explain…
3. Where is it in your undesirable circumstances or your situations of little/no hope do you so desperately need to claim the reality of HOPE? Compared to your current life situations, how and where are you looking for something beneficial in your future?
4. Because of this week’s focus on HOPE, how will you encourage those in your life that have undesirable circumstances, struggles, or situations that seem hopeless?

God’s richest blessings to you as you move through Advent! I would love to hear from you about your thoughts/considerations of HOPE and how that has changed/not changed this week. As well, please let me know about questions you may have. My email is bterrman@aol.com or you can catch me at the church or even call me on my cell: 570-916-0336.
